Milo Mumgaard Hired as City's Sustainability Coordinator

The following is a note from Trish Owen with the Mayor's office introducing the new Sustainability Coordinator.

Mayor Beutler asked me to send along a quick email letting you know that tomorrow, April 1^st, he will be hiring Mr. Milo Mumgaard to fill in for Mayoral Aide Denise Pearce who will be leaving us for an extended maternity leave. 

Milo graduated with a Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law and is currently working for Common Cause in Washington D.C. and Lincoln. He is serving as their Midwest Regional Director of State Operations. He has been working on stimulus issues for Common Cause and is very familiar with the energy stimulus requirements. 

One of Milo’s first major tasks will be to set up the Administration’s sustainability program in cooperation with many partners, one of which is the Mayor’s Environmental Taskforce. His initial focus will be on the energy stimulus funds and requirements making sure we are well positioned to receive our $2.4 allocation from the block grant. 

Mayor Beutler is hopeful that Milo can rely heavily on the expertise that resides within the MET as we begin to develop the city’s sustainability program. He is counting on you all to help guide not only Milo, but the Administration. Milo will be attending the April MET meeting and I know he is looking forward to meeting you all. Deb, if we could get Milo a log in to the MET share site that would be great. 

Milo is a tremendous administrator who can get things done for the city. With your help, and with the partnership of LES, PBC, the University and the environmental community, the city should be able to put into place over the next few years a tremendous sustainability program.
