Blog Talk Live: Interview with Crystal Powers, Slow Food Nebraska (with audio)
Tune in to Blog Talk Live tonight at 6pm on KZUM 89.3 FM and KZUM-HD to learn more about Slow Food Nebraska from Crystal Powers, the current president of the Slow Food Nebraska Planning Committee. Crystal attended UNL as an undergrad and completed her Masters in Agricultural and Biological Engineering at Cornell University. She now works as an Extension Engineer at UNL to reduce the environmental impacts of livestock agriculture.
Slow Food is a non-profit, eco-gastronomic member-supported organization to counteract fast food and fast life, the disappearance of local food traditions and people’s dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes and how our food choices affect the rest of the world. Slow Food Nebraska was started in 2004 to bring together those in and around Lincoln to share good, clean, and fair food. Their next event is the Eggstravaganza! on April 25th, with this year's theme being Time for Lunch, real food in schools. They have great food, great people, and wonderful entertainment. To find out more go to www.slowfoodnebraska.org or email slowfoodnebraska@gmail.com.

What is Slow Food Nebraska doing to help farmers? What other organizations do you work with?
Thanks, Slow Food Nebraska rocks!

Slow Food Nebraska was founded by farmer members of Nebraska Sustainable Agriculture Society, and we still have very close ties to that group.
Many of our memebers are farmers and they host events at their farms. One of the most popular events is Beef and Cheese @ Branched Oak Farm.
It is a great way to connect with where the food comes from.
We also work with Buy Fresh Buy Local Nebraska, Community CROPS, Nebraska Food Cooperative, and several others.
