Nancy Friedemann (left) Tracy Krumm (right), Courtesy of www.luxcenter.org LUX Center for the Arts presents New works by New York based painter Nancy Friedemann and Kansas City sculptor, Tracy Krumm in Double Crochet, March 5 – April 30.  The opening reception will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 5. Both artists will give a brief talk at the reception and will be on hand to answer questions.

Friedemann’s paintings of enlarged flowers, lace, and embroidery suggest that the work of women has been overlooked in our history.  Krumm uses techniques such as crochet and blacksmithing in her sculptures to call attention to how  “gender specific” roles can keep both men and women from reaching their full potential.

Slow Food is a non-profit, eco-gastronomic member-supported organization to counteract fast food and fast life, the disappearance of local food traditions and people’s dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes and how our food choices affect the rest of the world.  Slow Food Nebraska was started in 2004 to bring together those in and around Lincoln to share good, clean, and fair food.  Their next event is the Eggstravaganza! on April 25th, with this year's theme being Time for Lunch, real food in schools.  They have great food, great people, and wonderful entertainment.  To find out more go to www.slowfoodnebraska.org or email slowfoodnebraska@gmail.com.
