Lincoln Arts Council Receives Artist Residency Grant
Margaret Berry has taught at many workshops and residencies throughout Nebraska. She exhibits locally at the Haydon Art Gallery and is invited to display internationally as well. She will be teaching the encaustic process by using various techniques and materials with wax. Encaustic is a method of painting that uses molten beeswax mixed with pigment instead of paint.
Come see what the students created at their First Friday event on March 5th from 5-7pm at Arts & Humanities High School (643 South 25th Street).
Ann Gradwohl will be the second resident artist at Norwood Park Elementary School. She will be teaching filmmaking to students focusing on the theme of community. Each grade will reveal their short film during the community film festival that will happen later this school year.
Art education helps children connect to their learning by enhancing their experiences and critical thinking skills. The Lincoln Arts Council is excited to continue to offer more art education to students in the Lincoln community.
Lincoln Parks and Recreation AmeriCorps member, Johanna Sawyer is the project manager and is currently serving her second year as an AmeriCorps. The Nebraska Arts Council grants monetary resources to Nebraska Cultural Endowment (NCE). Nebraskans wishing to learn more about NEA grants or the NCE should visit the NAC website at www.nebraskaartscouncil.org.
