Lincoln Literacy Council Publishes Book of Love Poems for Valentine's Day
"It's guaranteed to make 'em swoon," the Council's executive director, Clay Naff, said with a grin. "We've got something for everyone in this little book."
"All You Need" features love poems from Asia, Africa, Europe, and America. Some are ancient, some are new. Some were written by the great masters of poetry: Dante, Rumi, Donne and of course Shakespeare. Some are by contemporary world poets. Others were written by local Nebraska poets who are not quite so well known as Ted Kooser, but are talented all the same.
The book is available from Lincoln Literacy Council for a $25 tax-deductible contribution now through Valentine's Day. Orders can be placed -- and paid for -- online at the council's web site, www.lincolnliteracy.org, or by sending a check with instructions about where to mail the book. The address is 745 S. 9th St., Lincoln, NE 68502. (The cost of the book and mailing is included, but will be deducted from the tax-deductible portion of the donation.)
Lincoln Literacy Council, founded in 1972, remains a widely respected nonprofit organization with more than 200 active volunteers. It partners with more than 20 community organizations to provide English language and literacy services to more than a thousand adults and children from over 60 countries now living in our community. The Council also continues to fulfill its historical mission of tutoring to homegrown Americans who need help to improve their reading, writing, or other basic skills.
