Time for 'Pints for Pounds' at the Nebraska Community Blood Bank
Blood donors, food donations,
community resources and country music; mix it all together and you have the
fourth “Pints for Pounds” campaign at the Nebraska Community Blood
Bank.
From March 10-23, volunteer blood donors can multiply their
spirit of giving as Russ’s Market, along with Martha Gooch Foods, will
donate a pound of food to the Food Bank of Lincoln for every pint of blood
collected at NCBB. As an extra bonus, everyone registering to donate can
enter a drawing for two tickets to the April 8th Reba
McEntire-George Strait–Lee Ann Womack concert at the Quest Center.
The “Pints for Pounds
“campaign has consistently resulted in over a ton of food being donated
each year. “It is something Russ’s Market is proud to be a part
of,” stated Marty Jarvis, marketing director for B & R Stores.
“We are pleased to be able to help two organizations that provide such important
services to our community.”
Donors
are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items when they visit any of the
NCBB locations or blood drives. While “O negative” blood is
most needed by NCBB, the Food Bank of Lincoln is looking for canned meats, cereal, soups, peanut butter, macaroni
& cheese, shampoo, toothpaste, diapers , baby wipes and personal hygiene
items.
