Science Odyssey: A Climate of Fear

David HarwoodThe National Academy of Sciences is home to America's top scientists. Normally, they focus on research and teaching. This month, however, 255 of them signed onto a letter published in the journal Science complaining of political intimidation being directed at climate scientists.

In this week's program, we talk with the lead author of the letter, Pacific Institute President Peter Gleick. Then we hear from climatologist Ken Dewey, who has been reviled and attacked during his public presentations on climate change. Finally, we talk with David Harwood, (at left) one of the leaders of the Antarctic Geological Drilling Program (ANDRILL for short), about how scientists are steadily improving models of future climate change by researching the past.
